Andi Bracey (pictured), the immediate past Territory president of the Isolated Children’s Parents Association (ICPA), has been preselected as the candidate for Stuart by the 1Territory party.
She, her husband and their five children aged 12, 11, 10, four and three have have settled in the King River area south of Katherine after working in and around the Electorate of Stuart for the past seven years, says a media release from the party.
It says Ms Bracey has also been a member of the candidate selection panel for SPERA (Society of the Provision of Rural Education for Australia) and has sat on many different Territory boards over the past seven years.
She was the chair of the Arafura Dance Association in Nhulunbuy which was the largest dance school in the Territory at the time.
She facilitated a grant for dance lessons, meals and clothing in the Indigenous homeland where Yothu Yindi have a studio.
She worked closely with youth sent to Bremmer Island for corrections and taught dance in the local school. She has also worked with specific needs children as a support worker teaching a literacy program.
Prior to living in the Territory, Andi managed and trained staff in business, winning national recognition as well as running her own boutique business when her children were very small.
“Stuart needs a representative who knows the struggles, the trials and answers needed to make it a better place to live, work and play for all who live there,” the release quotes Ms Bracey as saying.
