Bid to keep Rock climb open by heritage listing

An historic film of a senior traditional custodian on top of Ayers Rock (now renamed Uluru) is presented as an argument for allowing the continued climbing of the monolith. Book author Marc Hendrickx is also applying for additional heritage listing of several features, including the climb, which is due to be closed by the Aboriginal owners in October. The author says the closing may violate the 1987 listing of the park. ERWIN CHLANDA reports.
