Cover-up: Australia’s or Pilger’s?

Tomorrow is a day of remembering. It is the anniversary date of the apology by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to the Stolen Generations. Marking the occasion in Alice Springs is another screening of Pilger’s Utopia. The organisers no doubt believe that Pilger’s film is a model document of remembering, but brief examination of a section of the film specifically about remembering history shows just how misleading his approach to this important process can be, writes KIERAN FINNANE.
