A strong last quarter gave Wanderers a 47-point win over Central Australia at Gardens Oval on Saturday afternoon in what was a community round in the NTFL.

The match started at a fast pace with a number of goals in the opening 10 minutes.

The highlight of the term was a deft tap from Shane Thorne deep in the forward pocket that found Aaron Motlop by himself in the goal square.

The play resulted in a goal for the Eagles in what was the best team goal for the match. The Redtails were able to hit back late in the quarter and reduced the margin to seven points at the first change.

Wanderers increased their lead at half time and three quarter time but Central Australia was still in with a chance at three quarter time. It would ultimately come down to which team wanted the four points the most.

A strong breeze favouring the Eagles allowed the side to kick six goals to two and win 16.11 (107) to 9.6 (60). It was the third win for the season for Wanderers and the side advances to third place on the NTFL ladder.

Shane Thorne continued his top form this season with another five goal haul for the Eagles.

Central Australia was best served by Kenny Morton, Antonio Riley and Thomas Clarke.

Ex-AFL player Matt Campbell tried hard all day and racked up plenty of the footy while key position player Jayden Prior was staunch in defence.

Big man Daniel Stafford kicked three goals from limited opportunities while Thomas Gorey kicked two.
