p2304-cannabisNorthern Territory Police have arrested a 33-year-old man after they seized a commercial quantity of cannabis 100km south of Alice Springs yesterday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said police apprehended a Ford Ranger 4WD utility and found 4.5 kilograms of cannabis.

“Police conducted a search of the vehicle and found a commercial amount of cannabis,” he says.

“The man was arrested and conveyed to Alice Springs where a further search was conducted on the vehicle and another 8.1 kilograms of cannabis was found. He is assisting police with their enquiries.

“This is another significant result for the community. Police continue to encourage members of the public to report drug dealers,” says Sgt Phillips.

“All illicit drugs impact our community, so it is pleasing to have this amount of dangerous drug removed from the streets.”

  1. Well done by the police. With only two major roads in and out of the Territory, hopefully they can knock off a few more drug peddlers.
