Alice Springs Police this morning arrested the 22-year-old male who had escaped custody on Monday night.
 
Detective Sergeant Leith Phillips from the Tactical Investigation Squad said a member of the public contacted police yesterday afternoon, having sighted the man north of Alice Springs.
 
Police searched the area throughout the night and with the assistance of sharp-eyed CCTV Operators, located the man hiding on the roof of a building in the Todd Mall.
 
He was arrested and taken into custody at around 3:10am today. He will be interviewed by Detectives later today and put before the court.
 
Police would like to thank members of the public who provided invaluable information which led to the arrest of this violent prison escapee. – POLICE MEDIA RELEASE.
 
 
Alice Springs police have warned “not to approach at any time” 22-year-old escapee Andreas Bush.
 
Detective Sergeant Leith Phillips of the Southern Investigation Squad says he escaped the custody of corrections officers at the Alice Springs hospital at around 9.30pm last night.
 
“Andreas is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 175cm tall and of athletic build. He has a cast on his left forearm and was last seen wearing a blue and green striped shirt and dark coloured shorts,” Detective Sergeant Phillips says.
 
“If you see Andreas or if you know of his whereabouts, please contact Police immediately on 131 444 or 000.”
