Lowest number of August property crimes in four years

2 September 2014

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Sir – Alice Springs Police continue to crack down on property related crime, recording the lowest number of unlawful entries in August for the last four years.

There were 31 reported unlawful entries in Alice Springs during August compared to 34 for the same time last year.

These results reflect the great work Strike Force Vega is doing in our community to combat property offending.

Hard working and dedicated investigators have arrested 70 people and summonsed a further 15 in relation to 290 offences, as well as executing 13 search warrants since the beginning of this financial year.

Strike Force Vega will continue to relentlessly target those who commit property crime and urge members of the public who witness any suspicious activity to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
