Sir – It is with great sadness that we must tell you that our beautiful Eubena Nampitjin has passed away.
During the early hours of Monday morning, at the amazing age of 91, surrounded by her family, friends and faithful dog Tjapanangka, that beautiful old lady closed her eyes and gently passed from this life to her next journey.
Transitioning many of life’s chapters, she was a mother, wife, auntie, grandmother, friend, maparn, law woman, and  an extraordinary artist.  Filled with warmth, love and laughter, she willingly shared all she had with anyone who came into her presence and through her amazing artwork she also managed to share with those she had not yet met.
It is with heavy hearts that we say “farewell until next time” to this unique women whose words, actions and paintings touched and brightened our souls.
Warlayirti Artists sends its greatest sympathy to the loved ones of this unforgettable lady.
If anyone would like to send their thoughts or kind words to her friends and family during such a hard time, please do email and we will make sure the family receives them.

  1. Sad news about an amazing old lady. Of some comfort is that she was able to pass away peacefully at home, and not somewhere else. My best wishes go out to Jane and the rest of the family at what must be such a difficult time. It is hard to imagine Warlayirti Artists, Balgo and indeed the Western Desert without her. Rest in Peace.

  2. It is a pity I never got to meet this great woman before she died. Apart from bearing the same name, we share a lot in common. I’m a lawyer in Nigeria and also an artist.
I actually found her out because I wanted to know what my internet presence was at the time. I discovered I was referred to severally as ‘Eubena Ahmedu’ as well as ‘Eubena Amedu’ which is my real name. On that day, I was shocked when her name came out because I never knew I shared my name with any star. Rest in Peace great one. Even though you are gone, your legacy remains for us and the generations to come.
