Drivers from a Chinese off-road racing club with more than 30,000 members will be competing in this year’s Finke Desert Race.
Finke president Antony Yoffa signed a memorandum of cooperation with the CEO of the high profile WolfPack Off Road Club in Guangzhou, Ms Cherry Yang, in the company of vice president and Alice Springs Mayor Damien Ryan and photographer Steve Strike, who has an office in China and who initiated the connection between the clubs.
“We see this as a tremendous opportunity to expand the appeal of the event to one of the biggest markets in the world,” says Mr Yoffa.
The agreement with assistance from the Alice Springs Town Council and the Northern Territory Government, will also seek to establish close cultural links.
