A woman is alleged to have been sexually assaulted by an unknown man in Todd Mall at 1.45am today.
Police say they do not have a description of him.
A crime scene (pictured) has been set up between the Flynn Church and the opshop next-door.
The woman is understood to be in the Alice Springs hospital.
UPDATE 12:50pm
Police say the suspect is a man “of Aboriginal appearance; short in stature and was wearing a grey stripy jumper” and the alleged attack occurred at around 12:25am.
“Detectives from the Southern Investigation Division are investigating and enquiries are continuing.”
Anyone who may have been in the area between 12 midnight and 1am or anyone with any information was asked to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
