The Bunnings Warehouse in Alice Springs is on schedule and within budget, says Peter Davis, Bunnings Chief Operating Officer.
H Troon has been appointed to complete the project.
Mr Davis says the structural steel is nearly complete and the roof works are progressing well.
The office fit out has commenced and is on schedule and the in ground services are on track to be completed soon.

Laying of the concrete ground slabs will commence shortly.
“In line with Bunnings’ commitment to sustainability the warehouse Alice Springs will implement a number of energy and water saving design features, including energy efficient lighting and rainwater harvesting tanks,” says Mr Davis.
“Bunnings is investing more than $23 million on the site of over two hectares. More than 100 jobs will be created in the local community once the store opens, and the building process has created a further 160 construction jobs.
“The warehouse will offer a wide range of leading Australian brands and
products along with specialised trade supplies.
“Local customers will enjoy the convenience of the widest range of home improvement and outdoor living products at the lowest prices.”
There will be a main warehouse, indoor timber trade sales area, building materials and a landscape supplies yard and outdoor nursery, as well as a café and kids’ playground, all expected to be completed and ready for customers in mid 2013.

  1. I have mixed views here. Having lived in Alice and seen the struggle some of the hardware outlets have had to cope with, now along comes the biggest in the nation. What lies around the corner? This may be great for consumers but for hardware retailers we will just have to wait and see. I will follow this with interest.

  2. I can’t wait for Bunnings to arrive. 1 because they will have what I need in stock and reasonably priced and 2 because I think Big O would be the perfect location for an indoor sports complex.
